Week 3: Stream overlay and Stream
For my livestream me and a buddy played a couple of games of dota before going on Fortnite for a bit, below you can see the 2 hours and 33 minute video.
Week 4: Game Media
A video I recently watched was 'Minecraft - Part 1: How to Survive the First Night' which is a video posted by The Yogscast in 2011. I have been a fan of the Yogscast since 2010 so when I saw this on my YouTube homepage I felt like I needed to revisit. The video sees the duo Lewis and Simon who are the founders of the content creator group trying to as the title says survive the first night in minecraft. When the video first came out Minecraft was a fairly new game and was still early in its lifetime so many of the mechanics and systems we know today weren't in the game at the time. For example multiplier had only just been introduce which is why they made the video in the first place. This video is now sitting at a massive 18 million views and started off one of the biggest YouTube series in the minecraft community called 'Shadows of Israphel'.
The thumbnail is very basic with just the tiltle minecraft and a green background with blood dripping down.
The Yogscast gained their popularity due to their Minecraft content but over time as their viewers ages they've gone into more adult games such as Grand Theft Auto and others that include 15+ content.
Week 5: Talk about a game that has a GaaS Model
Dota2 Games as a Service is a great way to take your gaming experience to the next level.
With the Battle Pass, you can unlock exclusive in-game rewards, collectible items, and more. You can also purchase levels if you wanted to unlock something sooner.
Collector Cache allows you to purchase skins that have been made by and voted for by the community, there is usually 2 collections release during the battle pass.
Treasures are special item sets that come with unique items, such as voice lines and emoticons. All of these items allow you to customize your gaming experience and show off your style.
Players aren't traditionally incentivised to enter the games ecosystem however if the player enjoys a certain hero they can opt to put money onto their steam account and purchase a multitude of skins for each of the 124 heroes that are in the game.
Week 6: Lootbox system
For my lootbox system I chose to do mine over Apex Legends which is a free to play battle royal game, published by EA and came out in February 2019.
Apex Legends has a lootbox system in its monetization pack called 'Apex Packs' Players can earn a max of 45 packs for free this is while levelling from level 1 to the max level of 100, so thats a pack around every 4 levels. Players can also spend their real hard earned money on these packs if they so wished.
1 Apex Pack costs 100 Apex Coins which exchanges into $1 USD
10 Apex Packs costs 1,000 Apex Coins which exchanges into $9.99 USD
Below is the simulation I ran with the drop chances that I had found on an IGN Article
-
100% - Rare Item or Better
-
24.8% - Epic or Better
-
7.4% - Legendary
Apex Packs also have a thing called "bad luck protection," which means you will earn at least one Legendary item withing 30 pulls. which I couldn't replicate.
Week 7: Trailer idea
The plan for my trailer is to use the first Five Nights at Freddy's game, I chose this because I'm a fan of the franchise and love the aesthetic it has. I'm also a fan of Markiplier who first introduced me to the series.
I will be capturing the game footage myself using the in-built windows 10 xbox capturing app and then using premier pro to edit my footage.
Week 8: Trailer
Below is the trailer I made with my own footage for Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF)
