Motion Capture Prep- Idea

Our first Assignment focused on creating an original character, rigging it and applying our own motion capture to it.

The theme for the character was Mecha. The character had to be mechanical in some way, biing full on robotic or more human cyborg, the only condition being that it had to posses human proportions, so that the motion capture would function properly. I decided on recreating Darth Maul from the popular franchise Star Wars.

After creating and rigging our character, we were tasked with posing them dynamically, with 5 poses minimum being required.

Bellow are the references I used when coming up with my Idea.

Assignment 02: Motion Caputre Scene

In preparation of our final assignment, the mocap animation, we were split into groups and took turns in the University's mocap studio. Lorena-Maria Neagoe was the one trying on the suit from our group. We were shown how to calibrate the environment, the motion tracking and how to process the mocap data once it was recorded. Down below you can find video snippets of what we did.
